Empty beaches
29 April 2008
Today was a classic Vallarta day. A perfect and steady 15 knots, slightly side, on shore and with nicely shaped little waves that works as excellent take-off ramps. The water is starting to to get really warm, so now you can kite without any neoprene, yeah!
All the fat and drunk gringo’s have gone back to Griongoandia, and the beach was completly empty. Too empty actually. There were no kiters, Chente took a restday (after 10 concecutive days of nukin’ winds). Only me and Paco turned up and both our students, turned us down! Great, we said and started gearing up.
Suddenly, Alberto and Maria-Jose came asking for some instructions. I ended up giving her classes while Paco and Alberto was out kiting, jumping high and enjoying life. Maria-Jose improved a lot with her kite-control and I think that next week she’ll be going upwind on her board in both directions.
Atuk (Alberto) had a go on my kite (Ozone Sport 11) and he liked it a lot! Just when Maria-Jose had enought, Atuk came back with my kite, and we switched without landing it. All the other kiters that had turned up during the afternoon, also came back at this point, having the same exhaustion problems like Chente, “yes, it’s good, but I had soooo many good days latly, I just need a rest”
So I there I was, kiting only for 10 minutes in beautiful conditions, perfect little ramps and very nice wind and I see everybody packing up and leaving! I cut my day short aswell because I don’t want to kite alone and also because I got really beaten up yesterday! Now I’m sitting here writing this post sippin’ on a cold one when it’s still ridable outside and thinking, how can I feel so good even if the day was not maximized?
